Preborn Children of Michigan Losers as Petition Drive Falls Short

Michigan ’s Prenatal Child Protection Amendment defining “a person? as beginning at conception will not be on the ballot this November. According to last years?statistics, an average of seventy preborn children in Michigan are murdered daily by surgical “abortion?

Not being able to collect 317,757 signatures from Michigan voters by today’s deadline, campaign organizers have run out of time for the ballot access this year.

Far from being discouraged, Michigan Citizens for Life chairman Cal Zastrow, said ?We’ve just begun. We’re not done until every child in Michigan is protected by love and by law. Every volunteer, I’ve talked to is encouraged. I’m repeatedly asked two questions: ‘Which month next year do we start again??and ‘What can I do to help prepare??/font>"

American Life League's Airborne Banner to Spread Pro-Life Message above Detroit

6/28/2006 10:05:00 AM

To: State Desk, Legal Reporter

Contact: Amber Dolle of American Life League, 540-903-9572 or ADolle@ALL.org

WASHINGTON, June 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by American Life League:

"American Life League will be eagerly taking a 100 percent pro-life message to the skies above Detroit today," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "With this kind of pro- life aerial support it will certainly be hard to escape the truth that abortion kills."

The banner, pulled by a small plane, simply reads, "Face It- Abortion Kills!" It will sail through the skies during today's International Freedom Day in Detroit. In all, the 60-foot banner will be flown for four hours in order to allow thousands of onlookers an opportunity to see the message.

"Michigan is fighting its very own battle for life right now as activists are working to enact a state constitutional amendment that defines personhood as beginning at conception," said Brown. "With the July 10 petition deadline just around the corner, today's pro-life aerial banner will certainly help to keep the issue of abortion in the forefront of people's minds."

Pro-lifers have until July 10 to obtain enough signatures to add the proposed state constitutional amendment to the November ballot. If sufficient signatures are gathered and Michigan voters approve the measure in the fall, Michigan will become the first state to contain totally protective pro-life language in its state constitution.

"It is our prayer that today's banner campaign will be a stark reminder to the people of Michigan that thousands of children die every single day at the hands of abortionists," said Brown. "Michigan has the opportunity to pass a law that will stop this tragedy from claiming even more innocent lives. It is time to do the right thing and put an end to the heinous act of abortion."

Michigan pro-lifers working around the clock   to add definitive abortion prohibition to ballot

WASHINGTON, D.C. ?"Michigan pro-lifers are on the cusp of ensuring the most fundamental step in reversing the deadly impact that legalized abortion has left on our country," said American Life League president Judie Brown. "These hard-working activists are relentless in their selfless desire to save the lives of an untold number of preborn children."

Michigan pro-lifers face a July 10 deadline for securing enough signatures to add a proposed state constitutional amendment to the November ballot. "If the signatures are gathered and Michigan voters approve the measure this fall, America 's first statewide totally protective pro-life language will be in place.  American Life League fully supports the Michigan initiative, which defines personhood as beginning at conception," said Brown.

Michigan Citizens for Life, the organization leading the effort for the ballot initiative, is sponsoring the petition drive. The petitioners must secure 317,000 valid signatures by the deadline in order to add the amendment to the fall ballot.

Brown says the effort in Michigan is of vital importance as other states will likely follow their model to add protective measures to their respective state constitutions. "Just a few months ago, the nation's eyes were on South Dakota as that state's legislators approved a ban on medical and surgical abortion. Now, the country is watching Michigan ," said Brown. "Success in this state will certainly encourage people across the nation to support additional legislative proposals that establish personhood for preborn children ?a principle that makes the heinous act of abortion illegal

MI GOP Supports Pro-Life Amendment Petition Drive

Michigan Citizens for Life welcomes the support and endorsement of the
Michigan Republican Party for the Prenatal Child Protection Amendment
petition and campaign.  "Thank you Republicans for getting on board to help
with this direct and effective strategy to amend the Michigan Constitution
to end the killing of children before they are born,"  shouted Cal Zastrow,
